UFC women’s flyweight Tracy Cortez is ranked No. 13 in the women’s 125-pound division and has fought only once in 2022. She was scheduled to face Amanda Ribas at UFC Orlando on Dec. 3. Shortly after the official weigh-in, Cortez was pulled from the fight card for undisclosed reasons.

The fiancé of No. 3rd ranked featherweight contender Brian Ortega She spoke about her mental health and her withdrawal from UFC Orlando in a video posted on Instagram.

“I know after my fight I’ve been a little MIA here on social media…I’m going to be as honest as I can be. I’m currently at a point in my life where I just went through it, physically and mentally,” she said.

“I want to say that I haven’t been in the right frame of mind since August. Life has tested me in circumstances I least expected. I am currently in recovery, I prioritize my mental health! & just taking life one day at a time,” Cortez continued.

“I keep getting asked when I’m going to be scheduled for another fight and honestly I don’t know BUT I’ll be back, stronger, better and with a much bigger purpose than I’ve ever had before!! I don’t give up I’ve never been one to give up I’m a fighter I’m a warrior I’ve been fighting with battles and life since I can remember and that’s only another stage of life in which I will emerge victorious 🙏🏽✨ I don’t sit and wait for the storm to pass, I walk through it with my Head held high!

For anyone struggling with life right now, don’t give up. Take life day by day. Believe that everything happens for a reason, even if we don’t understand it now or ever. Don’t lose hope 🤍 the sun always shines when the storm passes.”

In another video, Cortez said she was “healing” and being taken off the UFC Orlando fight card “broke me up.”

“So I don’t even know how to start this video,” she said. “I want to be very vulnerable but so am I – to some degree because social media knows how to tear people down….

“I don’t know if you noticed much, but I haven’t really been too active here on social media,” Cortez said. And it’s because I’m at a stage, a season in my life where I’m healing. I’m healing and I’ve been through it on a personal level. Yeah, I healed, and accountability is a hard pill to swallow and a lot of people are not able to take responsibility for their actions.

“You know it’s always easy to find the easy way out, excuses, you know, and I change everything that I once thought I was,” she added. “I try to become a better person. I try. Not that I was bad, but I try to move intentionally, I try to move purely.

“I’ll say I’ve been going through this since August,” she continued. “I walked through my camp extremely depressed. I crossed my camp, despite my mental state, I still gave 110%. I showed up and it was tough. Everyone around me in my circle saw, and being pulled out like I did, uh, hurt me, broke me. ‘Cause we give it all, we let it all, we give it all we can and we let it all, every ounce of us in every session

“I feel like training camp weighs on me, and I think every fighter on some level really, spiritually, physically, obviously mentally, it weighs on us,” Cortez continued. And I gave it my all, gave it my all and not fighting left me kind of lost. But I’m fine, I’m keeping myself healthy, I’m making my mental state, my state of mind, my mental health, I’m making it a priority.

“So I just want to thank everyone, for those who showed their support because there’s a lot of stuff that was just rude and tore me down,” she concluded. And since it’s part of the game, I know what I signed up for. But to those who supported me, and were so nice to me and just didn’t let me in the process of not fighting and whatever, I want to thank you and I love you guys and I will continue to heal. And that’s all.

“You guys, we are human, we are human despite how many followers we have. We’re humans, we feel, we go through things too, you know?”
