donald trump attacked a New York Magazine reporter as a ‘wacky job’ after revealing that a member of his own 2024 campaign thought the ‘magic was on’ for the former president.
Throughout the Christmas period, the one-term president launched a series of non-celebratory rants on his Truth Social platform, fuming about everything from the January 6 House committee report to the southern border of the United States and the Senate Minority Leader. Mitch McConnell.
In a rambling post late Dec. 26, Mr. Trump this time slammed journalist Olivia Nuzzi over an investigative piece she wrote for New York magazine.
The article painted a picture of Mr Trump – who is facing calls to face criminal charges over the Capitol riot – living in near isolation in Mar-a-Lago and describing his 2024 campaign as “sad , lonely, thirsty, broken, basically pretending to “run for selection”.
A current adviser told Ms Nuzzi that even members of Mr Trump’s inner circle have become skeptical of his third run for the White House – as members of his own party increasingly turn their backs on the former president.
The adviser, who has not been named but works on Mr Trump’s current campaign, described Mr Trump’s call as “disappeared” and admitted “you can’t get it back”.
That is not here. In this business you can have it and have it so hot and it can last overnight and it’s gone and you can’t get it back,” they said.
“I think we just see he’s gone. The magic is gone.
On Monday, Ms Nuzzi said CNN that the adviser’s comments showed that “Mr. Trump’s mojo is gone.”
“It was a counselor talking to me saying the magic was gone and that person wasn’t sure Trump would be able to get it back,” she said.
It’s kind of the hardest thing in a campaign that really speaks to a personality. Even if it were to be handled in a really sensible way, would it really matter if the personality that’s been built around it isn’t really on its game?
Mr Trump was clearly shaken by the report’s revelations as he launched into an angry tirade on his social media platform on Monday night.
In the lopsided rant, he launched several personal attacks on the reporter whom he called “fragile”, “unattractive” and “stupid as a rock”.

The former president also claimed the sources “don’t exist” and called New York Magazine “on its ‘last legs'” – while resorting to his usual response to any unfavorable media that the report is ” fake”.
“Fake and corrupt news only gets worse! For example, I agreed to do a short phone interview for once very well, but now on its ‘last legs’ and failing New York Magazine,” a- he fumed.
“Reporter was a flimsy, unattractive job known as ‘tough’ but dumb as a rock, who actually wrote a decent story about me a long time ago.
Her name is Olivia Nuzzi. Either way, the story was Fake News, its “anonymous sources” don’t exist (that’s true for many writers), and I happily fight for our GREAT USA!
In a follow-up article, he called himself America’s “favorite president” and the Capitol riot – which left at least five people dead – a “PROTEST”.
Earlier, Mr Trump lashed out at Mr McConnell, making baseless claims that Democrats “must have something really big” on him because the Republican refused to block a government funding bill.
It came after the former president marked the holiday by sowing outrage on his platform on Christmas Day.
In a series of posts, he fumed that the United States was “dying from within” – while unsurprisingly blaming his political rivals.
“On this very cold but beautiful Christmas Day, look at our nation NOW on the southern border compared to just a short time ago under the Trump administration,” he wrote.
“We had the most secure border in our history, compared to the ‘horror spectacle’ that this [sic] is happening now, with record numbers of people, many of them hardened criminals (including killers, human traffickers and drug dealers), pouring into OUR COUNTRY at a rate we have never seen before . The United States is dying from within!!! »
He added: “TODAY, AS NEVER BEFORE, WE ARE A NATION IN DECLINE, A NATION IN FAILURE!
Three days before Christmas, the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot released its full report, concluding that Mr. Trump should never be allowed to hold office again and recommending to the Department of Justice to lay four criminal charges against him.
Mr Trump’s tax returns are also expected to be released any time after he loses a legal bid to keep them secret.
